An accessible and inclusive museum experience

The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec is an establishment adapted to the needs of persons with a disability. In conformance with the Act to Secure Handicapped Persons in the Exercise of their Rights with a View to Achieving Social, School and Workplace Integration (RSQ, c E-20.1), the Musée publishes an annual action plan with respect to persons with a disability.

Interested parties may find more details in this plan about the measures taken by the Musée to promote access by persons with a disability to the Musée’s buildings, services and activities.

2021-2022 Action Plan with respect to persons with a disability

The following measures have been taken through the Musée’s action plan:

  • Ramps facilitate access to the Museum and all of the exhibition rooms are wheelchair accessible. The MNBAQ also makes wheelchairs available free of charge. at the cloakroom. Note that the Musée cannot take advance reservations for wheelchairs.
  • Parking spaces are available for persons holding a disabled parking sticker issued by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec, at the back of the Charles-Baillargé Pavillon parking lot, accessible from Wolfe Montcalm Avenue, and in the parking lot of Saint-Dominique Church, accessible from Grande Allée. A member of the Museum staff can assist you in moving around the parking lot. Simply ask the attendant at the Charles-Baillargé pavilion parking booth when you arrive.
  • The “Listen” Module is available for projections in the Sandra and Alain Bouchard Auditorium in the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion. The module, equipped with headphones that enable users to individually adjust the volume level of the projection, can be obtained from the projectionist.
  • The MNBAQ offers the Accès-Musée program (French only) to recognized non-profit community organizations that represent, in particular, the physically or mentally disabled. Such organizations have access free of charge to the MNBAQ. To obtain additional information, please consult the registration form.
  • Guided tours are adapted on request for groups or the disabled.
  • On demand, the Musée offers free admission to a person accompanying a visitor with a disability. While it is not obligatory to obtain this free admission, visitors holding a Tourist and Leisure Companion Sticker (TLCS) are invited to present it at the reception desk to obtain free admission.
