DOYON-RIVEST
Mathieu Doyon, born in Québec City in 1970
Simon Rivest, born in Sherbrooke in 1974
Pavlova
2019
Digital photomontage printed on stick-and-peel vinyl, and video projection
Doyon-Rivest’s work explores the principle of the reward pathway: activities that trigger the release of dopamine in our body induce a state of euphoria and generate seeking of immediate pleasure. Pavlova militates for a regaining of control, deceleration and re-appropriation of simple happiness, far removed from addictions.
Pavlova is the first edition of a series of ephemeral presentations in the public spaces of the Musée, produced in collaboration with the Fondation du MNBAQ.
